Genomika: analýza a algoritmy - Cvičení 4
Search myb gene in genbank using ENTREZ,
you can try also genom browser.
Task 1
- How many records of human myb gene are there in genbank?
- How many paralogs of gene myb are there in human genome? What are their names?
- Does the viral gene myb exists too? Is so, what is it's name? What species it infects?
Task 2
- In the NCBI Genome database, find the reference genome of the domestic cat and look for:
- Submitted GenBank assembly
- Submission date
- Genome size
- Go to the Genome Annotation of this genome and find:
- Release date
- Number of protein-coding records
- Number of pseudogenes and an explanation of what pseudogenes are
- Find what is located at position NC_058382.1:18599769-18601998, - What gene it encodes, and find as many IDs as possible from different databases. Identify what these databases are.
- Gene names and alternative gene names
-
In the UniProt database, find this peptide:
- How many gene variants are described in the database, what are they, and at which positions?
- Subcellular location
- Allergenic properties
- Tissue specificity
- Name the protein of which it is a part.
- Name its second part.
-
Go to PubMed:
- Using the advanced search, find all publications where all alternative gene names appear in the abstract/title sections.
- Write the search query and the number of records found.
-
Go to https://geneontology.org/
- Find the gene
- Copy the information from the GENE ONTOLOGY DATABASE ANNOTATIONS field
-
Why is the word "major" used in the name?
